Description

Crispy homemade Healthy Black Sesame Seed Crackers made with black sesame seeds, pistachios, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, hemp hearts, flaxseed, and chia. Protein-packed, fiber-rich, and perfect for meal prep or healthy snacking.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1/2 cup black sesame seeds
  • 2 Tbsp white sesame seeds
  • 3 Tbsp sunflower seeds
  • 1/4 cup hemp hearts
  • 1/4 cup pumpkin seeds
  • 1/2 cup pistachios, roughly chopped
  • 2 Tbsp ground flaxseed
  • 2 Tbsp chia seeds
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1/4 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 tsp flaky sea salt
  • 3 Tbsp pure maple syrup

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven and make the binder Preheat the oven to 320°F (160°C) and line a half sheet pan with parchment. Stir together the flaxseed, chia seeds, and water. Let stand for 10 minutes, until thick and gel-like.
  2. Mix the dry ingredients In a medium bowl, combine the black and white sesame seeds, pistachios, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, hemp hearts, cinnamon, and salt.
  3. Combine Stir the maple syrup into the gel mixture, pour over the seeds and nuts, and stir until evenly coated.
  4. Spread Spread the mixture thinly on the lined pan with a spatula.
  5. Press thin Cover with a second sheet of parchment and press firmly with the back of a spatula or roll into a thin, even layer. Compacting makes crispier crackers, and an even layer bakes evenly. Peel off the top parchment.
  6. Bake and score Bake 25 minutes. Remove from the oven and cut into strips or squares with a pizza cutter or knife gently. Fully baked crackers are too hard to cut cleanly. Rotate the pan and bake 25 minutes more, until slightly golden.
  7. CoolCool completely on the pan, at least 30 minutes, then break along the cuts. They crisp as they cool.Tip: If the center is still soft once cooled, bake at 300°F (149°C) for 5–8 more minutes.
